Ever thought about your history? Or that of your parents or even your grandparents who lived during a critical historical moment in Spain?
Research project:
· Search and collect material related to the subject “The life of my grandparents in the 1950s” from your surroundings. This includes your family, neighbourhood, library, archives, companies and any kind of local organization you can think of. Choose a concrete example to exemplify the local, regional or familial surroundings you would like to focus on. Think about what you find particularly interesting about this subject and put together a plan to organize all the material you collect.
· Using your subject, clearly describe how your grandparents lived during that era. Think about how life has changed since then.
· When you hand in your project, include a separate form explaining how you came across any information that was helpful in researching for your project. Write about all the things that caught your attention, the process you went through and what parts of the project you found particularly easy or difficult.
· List your sources: books, archives, sources, photographs, Internet or others using bibliographic references.
Terms and conditions:
· Open to all students in “4o de ESO, 1o o 2o de Bachillerato, Formación Profesional reglada or ESPA” – the last three years of secondary school. Participants must be under 21. You can work individually, in a group or even as an entire class, but you can only hand in one project.
· Projects need to be written in Spanish. All quotes need to be cited clearly (including those found on the internet). The extent of help given by your tutor must be included on the form. Participants may be asked to defend their work to the panel of judges.
· Your project must be linked to the place where you live, work or study. You must approach your subject through local or regional history, or even biographically.
· Format is open, though your project must not exceed 100 pages (double spaced). If your work is three-dimensional, please send a photograph with the corresponding form rather than sending the piece itself. If your project is on CD or DVD it must arrive accompanied with a page of text confirming the contents of the media.
· The deadline is the 30th July 2009.
Prizes:
· First prize – €2,000
· Five second prizes of €1,000
· Ten third prizes of €500
