This is the first individual large-scale exhibit of the work of the installation artist and photographer Jack Pierson. This is a selection of recent work, tending more and more towards abstraction. He aims for his works to depend less and less on language and meaning. The famous word sculptures communicate and provoke reaction by their aesthetic appearance, and in that way attempt to break through the barriers presented to us by language.
Included in this exhibition are some of his key works allowing an appreciation of the evolution of his work from legible narration and poetry to an abstraction that is both intelligent and complex.
Jack Pierson was born in Plymouth, Massachusettes in 1960.
