The role of women and homage to some of the great maestros define the XIII Festival of Jerez, dedicated to both flamenco and spanish dancing, and will be celebrated between the 27th February and 14th of March 2009. Included in the celebrations are: a series of events related to voice in flamenco (cante) and the guitar, 28 dance workshops, four workshops teaching palmas and compás, as well as presentations, informal discussions and debate on subjects related to flamenco.
There will also be performances from Eva Yerbabuena accompanied by Ara Malikian on violin, Aída Gómez, María Pagés, Rocío Molina, Isabel Bayón, Carmen Cortés and Fuensanta La Moneta.
A new concept this year is the creation of a flamenco nursery, targeting children to give them their first contact with the art of flamenco through games, as well as allowing their parents to attend the events.
