Modernstarts. Contemporary Art in the Collection Circa XX is a multiple exhibition paying homage to contemporary art collections. Nolde, De Chirico, Lipchitz, Le Corbusier, Francis Bacon, Roy Liechtenstein, James Rosenquist, Eduardo Chillida and Warhol are just some of the artists you can see in this groundbreaking exhibition, a collection of more than 300 pieces (paintings, sculpture, drawings, etchings, photographs and video) acquired by Pilar Citoler over more than 30 years.
The exhibit takes place over several locations:
Sala Vimcorsa (Angel Saavedra, 9): with work created before the 1980s, under the title 1910-1980. The origins of comtemporary art. by artists including Francis Bacon, Roy Liechtenstein, James Rosenquist, Bonifacio Alonso, Eduardo Chillida and Antonio Saura.
Sala de Cajasur (Ronda de Tejares, 6): Dentro/Fuera (Inside/Outside), a selection of photographic work from over 64 artists including Man Ray, Luis Gordillo, Alberto García-Alix and Joan Fontcuberta.
Palacio de la Merced (Plaza de Colón, 15): Work from around the time of the transition under the title La época movida: Circa desde los años 80. Includes work by artists such as Miquel Barceló, Louis Bourgeois and Robert Longo.
Teatro Principal (Ambrosio de Morales, s/n): Ceci n’est pas une photographie y Videocreación (y) el arte del mañana, photographic and video creations from artists such as Christo, Andy Warhol and Juan Ugalde.
