This month… ASAD (the Andalusian Development Association)

Originally set up by a group of four friends, ASAD has been helping countries such as Guatemala, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Brazil and Cambodia since 2005. ASAD aims to bring to light the enviable artistic and cultural wealth of these southern countries afflicted by economic poverty.

Two aspects define the association: the total and personal involvement of the team in the projects they execute and their respect for the culture of the countries they aim to help. At the forefront of their minds is the idea that these countries should administer themselves and be the executors of their development so that they don’t lose their unique identity.

Communal radio and socio-cultural projects for education, health, the arts, the construction of schools, conservation… all focused on preparing the people involved to take control of their own lives.
