14-Ap-10: Albeniz Cinema in Malaga re-opens its doors
In 2009 the people of Malaga took to the streets in protest against the closure of one of the emblematic Albéniz Cinema in Malaga, one of the last vestiges of quality, independent and original version cinema in the capital city of the Costa del Sol. But, with the support of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival, it’s back, with an investment of more than nine million euros to restore and revamp the building. The installations and equipment have been completely redone in order to create a cultural centre in the centre of the city with a permanent programme which focuses on original version films, Spanish cinema, European movies, the best of the North American cinema production, Latin American films, kids movies, as well as themed cycles and retrospectives. Oh, and let’s not forget the new 3D technology that’s been installed! On the 16th of April at 20:00 the Albeniz Cinema will be inaugurated with the projection of the 3D short animated film The Lady and The Reaper by Javier Recio (Kandor Moon) and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. As of the 25th of April, these films will be followed by: Que se mueran los feos by Nacho G. Velilla (2010), Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) by Wes Anderson and Ajami, an Israeli film directed by Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani in 2009. The Albéniz Cinema has also launched the members club Club Albéniz with discounted prices (except for 3D projections), invitations to premiers and weekly newsletter for all members. |
